Norfolk Manager casts eye over Norfolk bowlers

On Sunday 19th May at Hingham Sports & Social Club the Norfolk County Squad trials were held. There was a good turnout albeit down on the previous year. It was pleasing to see 12 newcomers trialling including 6 from one of our newer clubs, Thetford. Of the 12 newcomers 3 were under 18 which hopefully is a good sign for the future. The Norfolk County Manager, Simon Willies, gave an opening address and introduced his Management Team consisting of Keith Cooke the Assistant Manager and John Turner the Premier Team Captain. The Norfolk “A” Team Captain is yet to be selected. Simon outlined the approach to the day and what was expected of the players. Overall the bowling on display was of a very high standard with some very close fought games and some good fightbacks. A mixture of rinks and triples was played throughout the day. Norfolk County squad is in very good hands with a blend of young and old talent and experience shining through. Simon Willies said thank-you to all those that turned up for the day. He stated that “All of you certainly made the decision very hard as to who to include in the squad. Unfortunately, some people will be disappointed however thank-you for your efforts and we look forward to seeing you at next year’s trials.” Everyone has now been contacted either by email or letter so please check your e-mails and post. For those bowlers accepting their places in the Norfolk Squad for the 2019/2020 season please note that a reply by 16th June is required.
