Newby putting on the style

NCSMBA Summer League Division Two leaders Diss were held to a 4-4 draw at home to First Bus but still remain top and ten points clear of both Thorpe Marriott and First Bus. Putting on the style for Diss were Russell Davidson, Trish Taylor & Terry Newby (pictured below) who beat Elaine Oatway, Lesley Crowe & David Sharpe 14-9 and Tony Oram, Morris Taylor & Graham Mobbs who won by 16-10 against Linda Tooes, Sue Fox & Steve Hall. First Bus earned their share of the points courtesy of a 12-11 win for Muriel Dugdale, Steve Hall & Bob Oatway against Jill Davidson, Trish Taylor & Russell Davidson and an excellent 13-8 win for Sue Hunt, Lesley Crowe & David Sharpe against Colin Smith, Peggy Bertrum & Bill Francis. In the Summer Afternoon League Shropham moved eight points clear of second placed Thetford after two home wins. Shropham beat Thetford 6-2 with Val Hambling, Pat Codbold & Richard Broad leading the way with an 18-6 win against Chloe Suffolk, Dave Bourne & Kieran Suffolk. Terry Hewitson, Michael Godbold & Gordon Wilcox weighed in with a 15-9 win against Connor Townsend, C Piper & Jason Martin while Richard Broad’s triple beat Peter Scarborough’s triple 14-9. Pauline Barsby, Sue Colledge & Jason Martin secured two points for Thetford beating Gordon Wilcox’s triple 17-7. Shropham swept up all the points in an 8-0 win against East Harling. Leading the way were Terry Hewitson, Richard Stevens & Richard Broad who beat Dinah Markwell, Keith Messant & Derek Ryder 13-6 while Gordon Wilcox’s triple weighed in with a 12-5 win against Rob Newman’s triple. Wilcox also beat George Hume’s triple 13-8 while Richard Broad’s triple beat Len Deathridge 14-10.
