Essex lift England Triples title

Essex triple Chris Coates, Adam Bailey & Stuart Lowe are the new England Triples champions after beating Tom Caines, William Clarke & Nathan Caines of West Mids in the final. Norfolk triple Jack Marshall, Ryan Fox & Chris Willies carried Norfolk’s hopes into the semi-final but lost by one shot on the last end against the West Mids lads. In the other semi-final the Essex triple beat Jack Knight, Ben Riley & Emily Thomas of Dorset. Willies’ triple won Group 5 before beating Leigh Hall, Phil Caves & Martin Bennett 8-5 in the Last 32 round. Wins against triples from Humberside and then Devon carried them forward into the semi-finals before losing to West Mids. Chris Mann, Keith Cooke & David Lamb won Group 15 and beat Humberside’s Steve Smurthwaite, Helen Smurthwaite and Simon Smith 17-2 in the Last 32 round before losing 9-8 to Ryan Knight, Jason McLean & Leah Wood in the Last 16 round. Simon Willies, Morgan Warnes & Jason Woods qualified as runners-up in Group 1 with a win of 11-3 against Chris Hall’s Dorset triple and two draws. They exited in the Last 32 round losing 12-0 against Michael Doorey, Amanda Doorey & Paul Hutson.
