None of Norfolk’s four entries into the SMPT English Masters at Chelmsford made it through to the main competition knock-out rounds. But George Hume of Harling and Jason Martin of Thetford both qualified for the Plate knock-out stages by finishing third in their respective groups. George Hume won his first knock-out round tie against Paul Seaman by 13-4 and then beat Martin Boraston 13-5 in the next round to reach the last 16. That proved to be his last game as he was beaten by Keith Lackford by 13-5. Jason Martin lost his first knock-out match by 13-10 to Mark Lowry. John Jeffery of Wymondham finished fifth in Group 11 and Craig Quantock of Horsford BC finished sixth in Group 26 so featured in the third tier Shield knock-outs. John Jeffery went on to beat Richard Oldham 13-10 but lost in the next round by 13-4 against Stephen Proctor. Craig Quantock had lost all six of his Group 26 games but finally got a win in the first knock-out round beating Phil Spry 11-6. Craig Quantock then beat Martin Nash 15-7 to reach the quarter-finals where he lost 9-7 against Chris West.
