The match of the week in the City of Norwich League saw two of the big four teams meet. Thorpe Marriott maintained their spot at the top with an 11-3 home win against Horsford Heroes in a competitive match. Two solid wins for Marriott triples earned the points with Lesley Turner, Gerald Potter & Tony Turner beating David Crosby’s Heroes triple 14-6 while Sylvia Turner, Kath Frost & Derek Sheldrake beat Roger Frank’s triple 13-7. Windows moved into second place, and preserved their unbeaten home record, with a maximum 14-0 win against strugglers Horsford Blue. Diane Halford, Di Boswell & Keith Halford won by 17-4 and Pat Williamson, Paul Brock & Mark Tuttle won 17-2. First Bus are third after a 12-2 away win at Costessey. Winning First Bus skips were Steve Hall with an 18-9 win, Lianne Mills with an 11-5 win and Glennis Holmes with a 15-6 win. Mid table Horsford Gold beat bottom of the table Jarrolds 14-0 on points and 73-23 on shots. Their top triple was Christine Warnes, Brian West & Mick Dale who won 24-8. City Shield action saw Thorpe Marriott visit British Rail protecting an 8-0 first leg lead. A 4-4 draw proved easily enough to see Thorpe Marriott through to the semi-finals with Lesley Turner, Brian Turner & Tony Turner leading the way for Marriott with a 16-3 win.
