Thetford damage Connaught’s title hopes

Thetford dealt Connaught “A” Breckland League title hopes a severe blow this week as they beat their visitors 8-2 on points and 74-37 on shots. The biggest Thetford win was produced by Suzanne Kenny, Clive Eke & Peter Harvey as they beat Paul McDonald’s triple 24-5 while Kelly West, Kacy Suffolk & Chloe Suffolk beat Mike Minshull’s triple 24-10. Brian Jermy, Chris West & Jason Martin had got Thetford off to a great start beating Roy Taylor’s triple 19-4 while Bob Oatway’s triple scored Connaught’s only win beating Neil Thomas’s triple 18-7. Meanwhile defending champions Wymondham made it seven wins from seven games with an 8-2 away win at Carleton Rode, this left them fourteen points clear of second placed Connaught “A” in the table. Val Vardy, Jack Marshall & AJ Pye won 23-6 against Karl Newby’s triple, Billie Barker, John Jeffrey & Jon Sparham won 16-4 against Neil Davidson’s triple and David Chadwick, Debbie Sparham & Jack Pye won 22-14 against Terry Newby’s triple. Jill Davidson, Trish Taylor & Russell Davidson picked up Carleton Rode’s only win beating Chris Mann’s triple 19-8. Carleton Rode fared better at Hingham where they won 10-0 with Jill Davidson, Trish Taylor & Russell Davidson again in top form beating Joy Townsend’s triple 28-7. Shropham will be pleased with a hard fought 6-4 away win at Harling where Richard Miller, Phil Drake & Peter Walker beat Colin Hayman’s triple 19-7 and Ian Cornwall, Jimmy Delaney & Bob Townsend beat George Cody’s triple 12-11. In the week’s other Breckland League fixture Forncett won 10-0 at home to Connaught “B” with Mark Watson’s triple winning 27-7.
