Changes have been announced to the ESMBA Open Competitions which are now being run by the England Team Management. The following announcement has been made detailing a new three tier structure which appears to mirror the system which was introduced initially by the SMPT. While the SMPT system sees the top two qualify for the main competition, the third and fourth qualifying in a Plate event and the bottom two in a Shield event the new ESMBA Open Competition system sees the three sections named Zenith, Contenders & Spirit tiers. Solihull IBC are sponsoring the medals for this year’s competitions. Earlier today the ESMBA England Team facebook page revealed that only one spot remains open for the ESMBA Open Fours on 6th September and eight spots remain open for the ESMBA Open Pairs on 7th September. We’re excited to announce a refreshed format for this year’s ESMBA Open Competitions, designed to offer more opportunity, recognition, and progression for every team.
Zenith Tier - For the top performing teams who qualify to compete for an invitation to the Worlds Selection Weekend. Plus prize money awarded to winners and runners-up.
Contenders Tier For teams finishing mid-table in their groups. Winners will receive commemorative medals.
Spirit Tier For teams finishing at the bottom of their groups. Winners will also receive medals, celebrating perseverance and sportsmanship.
