CITY OF NORWICH LEAGUE

Horsford Heroes continue to lead the City of Norwich League as they notched up their fourteenth win in a row but bottom of the table Horsford Blue provided tougher opposition then expected. Blue’s triple John Lofthouse, Tim Flack & Phil Mildon opened with a 12-8 win against Roger Frank’s triple and Ruth Ruddock, Colin Mudd & Keith Ruddock held home triple Mally Kemp, Sue Fox & David Crosby to a 9-9 draw restricting Heroes to an 11-3 points win. Seeing the Heroes over the winning line were Lynn Frank, Margaret Harman & John Aggas who won 13-7 and Carol Aggas, Vic Webster & Chris Woodhouse who won 10-7. Never-the-less Horsford Blues should take confidence from their performance. Second placed Thorpe Marriott won 12-2 at Windows with Robin Amos’s triple winning 12-7, Tony Turner’s triple winning 14-8 and Derek Sheldrake’s triple winning 19-4. British Rail were held to a 7-7 draw by visitors Jarrolds. Terry Rose, Malcolm Skinner & Steve Andrews were in great form for Jarrolds winning 23-3.

BURE

Watton Expendables remain unbeaten in the Bure after winning 8-2 at Hevingham. A tight first half saw Chris Willies of Watton explode into action over the last four ends to beat Brian Turner’s triple 15-8. The match had been nip and tuck and was level at 8-8 after twelve ends before the visitors took seven shots over the last three ends. On the other mat Hevingham’s Pat Williamson, Teresa Goldsmith & Selwyn Goldsmith beat Rob Howlett, Chloe Suffolk & Simon Willies 11-10 after another tight game went into the final end level at 10-10. After the break though it was a different story as Watton Expendables dominated both games with Elaine Willies, John Jeffery & Robin Amos winning 21-7 and Pix Hyam, George Hume & Jack Marshall winning 15-6. Thorpe Marriott entertained Horsford BC and enjoyed a successful night winning 8-2 against their visitors. Derek Sheldrake, Richard Perkins & Andy George won by 25-3 backed up by Kath Frost’s triple who won 15-8 and Tony Turner’s triple who won by 15-5. Brian West, Richard McPhee & Sally Bates won their game 12-9 for Horsford.

BRECKLAND LEAGUE

Breckland League leaders Wymondham won 8-2 away to Forncett but the home side put up a strong fight with Tony Ottewell’s triple taking two points off the visitors beating Jon Sparham’s triple 13-10. Wymondham’s wins came from Jack Pye who won 14-12, AJ Brown who won 19-10 and Chris Mann who won 20-11. A local derby saw Harling Unicorns win 10-0 away to Harling Griffins. Mike Tarrant’s triple won 22-5 as the Unicorns took maximum points. Thetford won a tight match by 6-4 at Connaught “B” with a 19-8 win by Clive Eke, Peter Scarborough & Neil Thomas proving vital in obtaining the match points.

SOUTH NORFOLK LEAGUE

In the South Norfolk League Hempnall enjoyed an 8-2 home win against Harling with Kerry Greenacre, Jack Gray & Keith Cooke storming to a 28-2 win. Saxlingham Nethergate also won at home defeating Connaught 7-3. Biggest win of the night was by Nancy Banham, Sheila Hook & Peter Cook of Saxlingham Nethergate who won 21-9.
