Horsford Gold increase lead at top of City League

The top two teams in the City of Norwich League, Horsford Gold and Horsford Heroes, met home and away. Horsford Gold made home advantage count at their Sandy Lane venue as they collected maximum points winning 14-0. But Horsford Heroes inflicted a defeat on the defending champions at their St Faiths venue where they won 11-3. The results saw Horsford Gold increase their lead at the top to 13 points with both teams having three matches each to play. Bottom club Horsford Blue beat fellow strugglers British Rail 10-4 with John Lofthouse, Sally Bates & Phil Mildon winning 26-4. But despite a bright first half Horsford Blue suffered a 10-4 home defeat against Costessey. In the first half Blues looked on course for a win as John Lofthouse, Sally Bates & Phil Mildon won 18-13 and V Durrant, Colin Mudd & Tim Blackman won 11-7 but after the break Costessey hit back with Cynthia Powell, Mike Ottaway & Sheila Bragg winning 17-5 and Cyril Cole, Alan Bishop & Joy Townsend winning 12-5 to snatch a 10-4 points win. First Bus won 12-2 at home to Jarrolds with Ken Holmes, Lianne Mills & Bob Oatway top scoring with a 21-4 win.
