Wymondham’s Jack Pye & AJ Brown came so close to winning the SMPT Bowls is Bowls World Pairs Masters in Essex but lost out after a terrific final went down to the wire. The final score was 8-7 to Ian Hobson & James Shaw with both pairs playing some brilliant bowls in a captivating match. In the semi-finals the Norfolk pair were up against the hugely successful Irish pairing of Pauline & Mark Beattie and would have been delighted to emerge 8-7 winners. Another notable win for Pye & Brown earlier in the day was an 11-10 result against Gary Moore & Joe Beattie. In the other semi-final Hobson & Shaw beat Mark Granleese & Ian McElroy 9-3.
