Early season results around the county

Forncett opened their Breckland League campaign with an 8-2 away win at Carleton Rode where Martin Humphreys, Gill Coleman & Rebecca Humphreys led the way with a 20-8 win. Thetford also won their opener by 8-2 at home to Harling Unicorns. Top scorers were Clive Eke, Michael Holbrook & Jason Martin with a 25-10 win, Kacy Suffolk's triple also contributed a very useful 17-10 win.  In the City of Norwich League the top two teams met. Costessey had home advantage but it was visitors Thorpe Marriott who left with the greater share of the spoils winning by 12-2. Gillian Amos, Tony Oram & Derek Sheldrake will be pleased with their nights work as they produced a 19-6 win while Tony Turner’s triple won 13-11 and Robin Amos won by 11-10. Cynthia Powell, Mike Ottaway & Sheila Bragg earned Costessey’s consolation two points with an 11-6 win. Taverham earned their first win of the season winning 12-2 away to Horsford Blue. South Norfolk League action saw Horsford pull off an 8-2 away win at Forncett where Roger Frank’s triple won 18-3, David Crosby’s triple won 13-12 and Vic Webster’s triple won by 12-11. The Bure League season began with Hevingham winning 8-2 at home to Horsford BC. Billie Barker, Teresa Goldsmith & Melvyn Barker gave the home side a great start with a 19-3 win while Jane James’ triple added a 16-12 win. After the break David Sharpe’s triple added a 19-7 win for Hevingham while Dennis Seaton’s triple earned Horsford’s only two points with an 18-15 win.
