Last session drama as Halvergate retain Bure Cup

Halvergate once again completed a Bure League and Cup double with an 18-6 home win in the second leg of the Bure Cup final. Visitors East Tuddenham were defending a 15-9 lead from the first leg and knew that it would be tough and after just two sessions they trailed 17-15 on aggregate after four straight Halvergate wins. Things improved for East Tuddenham over the next three sessions which were all shared leaving Halvergate leading 23-21 with one session remaining. A tremendous finale to the cup final followed as both games went into their last ends level on shots. Halvergate’s Mike Tate, Ryan Fox & David Lamb were tied at 5-5 against Elaine Willies, John Turner & Simon Willies while Kerry Greenacre, Steve Hall & Keith Cooke were level at 6-6 against Jan Smail, Gerald Potter & Mike Smail. Incredibly both games went down to the last woods with Lamb’s triple winning 6-5 and Cooke’s triple winning 10-6 to clinch victory for Halvergate by 27-21 on aggregate. Top scoring triple on the night were Halvergate’s Kerry Greenacre, Steve Hall & Keith Cooke with wins of 7-5, 5-3 & 10-6.
