Dennis Moore Tournament 2023 results

 

The annual Dennis Moore Tournament was held on Sunday 26th March 2023 at Hingham Sports and Social Club, The singles and fours took place in the morning and the triples and pairs took place in the afternoon.

SINGLES

There were six singles playing in two leagues with the winner and runner up going to the pre drawn semi finals.

Winner of League one was Wymondham's John Jeffery

Runner up of League one was Hingham's Will Townsend

Winner of League two was Harling Griffin's Sid Burton

Runner up of League two was Connaught's Lee Fallows

In the semi finals Lee Fallows beat John Jeffery 13-4 and Sid Burton beat Will Townsend 9-7

In the Final  Sid took a single on the first end, Lee replied with  a double, Sid took a single on the 3rd end Lee Fallows then took control and scored on the next five ends to win 11-2 with 2 ends to play.

FOURS

There were eight fours playing in two leagues with the winner and runner up going to the pre drawn semi finals.

Winner of League one was Wymondham, M.Fisher, H. Osbourne ,S. Easter and A. Jackson

Runner up of League one was Harling Griffin M.Bottrell,R.Spurdens,J.Neave and G.Cody

Winner of League two was Connaught A D.Quadling, D.Aldous, R.Broad and P.McDonald

Runner up of League two was Shropham P.Godbold,S.Lawrence, C.Offer and M.Godbold

In the semi finals Harling Griffin beat Wymondham 8-5 and Connaught A beat Shropham 11-4

In the final

Connaught A took a four on the first. Harling replied with a single on the next two ends, Connaught took a single on the next end to lead 5-2, Harling hit back on the next end with a two. 5-4 to Connaught. Last end, Harling score a single to tie the game and force and extra end.

Connaught holding one and with his last wood the young Harling skip just clipped the jack but narrowly missed taking the shot. Connaught win 6-5.

PAIRS

There were six pairs playing in two leagues with the winner and runner up going to the pre drawn semi finals.

Winner of League one was Hingham G.Tweed and M.White

Runner up of League one was Harling Griffin l.Smith and J.Davis

Winner of League two was Thetford  C.Suffolk and M.College

Runner up of League two was Connaught B A.Bayes and D.Flatt

In the semi finals

Connaught B beat Hingham 10-1 and Harling Griffin beat Thetford 16-5

In the final

Connaught took a single on the first end, Griffins took a single on the next, Connaught reeled off three wins scoring 1,2,3 to lead 7-1. Griffins hit back scoring a 4 and a 3 to go ahead 8-7 with an end to play. Connaught held on to a single to tie the match and go to extra end, which Connaught took by a single to win 8-7

TRIPLES

There were eight triples playing in two leagues with the winner and runner up going to the pre drawn semi finals.

Winner of League one was Shropham C.Bailey,E.Aberdeen and A Rawnsley

Runner up of League one was Harling Unicorn L.Chilvers, C.Jones and N. Battley

Winner of League two was Thetford C.Walker, S.College and D.Walker

Runner up of League two was Connaught B P.Hambling, A.Sopp and J.Knox

In the semi finals

Shropham beat Harling Unicorns 9-7 and Forncett beat Connaught B 13-2

In the final

A single to Forncett on the first end, Shropham take two on the next, Forncett score 4 on the 3rd end to lead 5-2, Shropham take the next two end by a two and a four to lead 8-5, but that was as good as it got for them as Forncett took the last 3 ends 2,4,2 to win 13-5.
