Hempnall survive early scare at Framingham Earl

Hempnall are through to the Norwich Cup final after surviving an early scare in the second leg of their semi-final tie at Framingham Earl. After winning the first leg 11-5 on their own mats Hempnall found their lead immediately cut to 11-9 after the City of Norwich League side stunned their high profile visitors with an immaculate first session performance. Glenda Kidd, Graham Atter & Glenda Adcock swept aside Colin Stevenson, Joan Cann & Mick Pearce 12-2 while Chris Musk, Tyrone Musk & Debbie Bunn beat Bernie Cudden, Richard Harrowing & Charlie Archer 8-5. But Hempnall quickly restored their six point aggregate lead with Roger Parker & Neil Davidson winning by 11-7 against Margaret & Malcolm Reynolds while Lewis Cranston & Paul Baker beat Veronica Copland & Karl Bunn 6-5. The next session saw Debbie Bunn’s triple earning their second win of the night convincingly beating Mick Pearce’s triple 13-3 but Charlie Archer’s triple hit back for Hempnall with a 9-5 win against Glenda Adcock which left the score on the night level at 6-6 but Hempnall 17-11 up on aggregate. This secured Hempnall’s place in the final but the last session of pairs was still played with Hempnall increasing their lead to 21-11. They will now face Bob Carter over two legs in the final.
