The Over 55s Pairs National Qualifier took place on Sunday with the event throwing up a husband and wife duel between Joy & Will Townsend in the final. Joy Townsend & Graham Tweed of Hingham started well scoring three shots on the opening end and led by a convincing 9-3 margin after six of the ten ends had been completed. Their opponents, Will Townsend of Hingham & Terry Newby of Carleton Rode, then began a spirited fightback scoring five shots over the next three ends to leave themselves trailing by just one shot with an end remaining. On a tense last end Will & Terry collected another two shots to complete the turnaround and win 10-9. Also qualifying for the National Finals will be Andy Rawnsley of Shropham & Richard Broad of Connaught.
