Sparham, Hawksworth, Mann and Sparham claim mixed fours victory

Debbie Sparham, Laura Hawksworth, Chris Mann and Jon Sparham combined well to lift the county mixed fours title beating Kerry Greenacre, Mike Greenacre, Lesley Crowe and John Jarvis 10-5 in the final. Five shots picked up on end two put the four in control early on and a brace picked up on the next end saw them go 7-1 up after three ends. With an end remaining Sparham's four held an eight shot lead at 10-2 and a dropped three shots on the last end was damage limitation as they eased to victory. The third fourth play off was played between defending champions Jenny Walker, Donna Lamb, Keith Cooke and David Lamb against Jean Woods, Elaine Willies, Jason Woods and Simon Willies. Lamb's four took complete control early on picking up a 5,1,3,1 to lead 10-0 after four ends, eventually taking the match 12-2. The semi finals saw Sparham beat Willies 11-4 while Lamb's match against Jarvis went to an extra end with Lamb ruing his luck going down with the last bowl of the match by 9-8. Debbie Pye, Morgan Warnes, Simon Warnes and Jack Pye made a shock exit in the group stage after a poor first match, going down 12-3 to Willies four proved fatal after both fours were tied on four points and the same shots with head to head the deciding factor once all of the group match's had been played.
