Wymondham top Breckland and Hempnall top SNL

The final two Breckland League matches before the mid season break took place leaving all teams having played eight of their sixteen scheduled games. As expected defending champions Wymondham lead the way with eight wins from eight games and, nineteen points clear of second placed Harling Griffins, well on their way to another Breckland League title. Ten points behind the Griffins are Connaught. The Attleborough based side won 8-2 at home to Hingham with David Aldous, Richard Broad & Paul McDonald storming to a 26-3 win against Pam Chapman, Colin Harris & Sheila Bragg while Mike Minshull & Bob Oatway both skipped their triples to good wins. The only winning triple for Hingham were Eugene Gillan, Cynthia Powell & Mike White who beat Elaine Willies, Roy Taylor & Simon Willies 14-12. Forncett made it six wins from eight games with an 8-2 home win against Harling Unicorns. Its tight at the top of the South Norfolk League with Hempnall on 49 points, Forncett on 47 and Horsford on 44. Martin Humphreys, Gill Coleman & Rebecca Humphreys won 26-4 against Joy Townsend, Margaret Hunter & Eugene Gillan and Mike Smail, Alison Walker & Peter Lock beat Sheila Bragg, Cynthia Powell & Mike White 22-5 as Forncett kept up the pressure beating Hingham 8-2. Further down the table Harling won 9-1 at home to Connaught with Ian Beckford’s triple winning 19-5 against Roy Taylor’s triple.
