Bure Cup final showdown awaits for Halvergate

Bure Cup holders Halvergate will meet East Tuddenham once again in what is sure to be a tasty final. Halvergate’s visit to Hevingham saw last year’s Bure League and Bure Cup double winners prove too strong for the home side. Top scoring triple for Halvergate were Mike Tate, Ryan Fox & David Lamb with wins of 9-4, 10-2 & 11-3 with Lamb again demonstrating his prowess as a skip. Hevingham’s main resistance was provided by Joan Costello, Pat Williamson & Selwyn Goldsmith who also recorded three straight wins beating Jason Woods’ triple 10-3, Robbie Lamb’s triple 8-5 & Keith Cooke’s triple 5-4. Going into the last session the visitors led 12-8 and at one point David Sharpe’s triple led 5-3 against Robbie Lamb while Marjorie Hall was drawing 3-3 with David Lamb leaving open the possibility of a 12-12 first leg. But the Halvergate triples then took control to win both games to earn them a 16-8 first leg lead. After some discussion Hevingham decided to concede the semi-final and Halvergate can now plan for the final against their biggest rivals.
