The British Isles Short Mat Bowls Council, whose President is ESMBA Chairman Barry Hedges, have issued a statement regarding the British Isles Championships. The statement announces that the Championships, scheduled to be hosted by the ESMBA in Scarborough on 29/30th January 2022, will go ahead as planned. The full statement is as follows:

A meeting of the British Isles Council was held by Zoom to discuss the British Isles Championships due to be held in Scarborough on 29/30 January 2022.
It was agreed that the Championships would go ahead as scheduled. The ESMBA who are hosting the event will put every precaution in place to ensure the safety and welfare of the players, officials and spectators. The ESMBA safe bowls protocols that they have been running events under will be in place and issued separately with the addition of lateral flow tests each day for all players, officials and spectators.
