Norfolk title favourites as Northants win in Cambs

In the Eastern England League Northants Seniors won 33-17 away to Cambs, the same score-line achieved by Norfolk Over 60’s earlier in the season. Northants enjoyed a good start winning the opening session 6-2 on points before Cambs hit back with a second session 5-3 win. But the third session saw Northants stretch their over-all lead to 15-9. The fourth session was shared but the visitors finished in style with 6-2 point wins in the last two sessions to complete a 33-17 win on points. The result leaves Northants still 49 points behind defending champions Norfolk and needing a maximum 50-0 win at home to Cambs in their final match of the season if they are to catch Norfolk, or a 49-1 win with a +156 shot difference. Both options look unlikely.
