Diss to face holders Wymondham in Summer Cup Final

Diss have a tough task on their hands in the Summer Cup Final where they will face holders Wymondham. Information just received from the Summer League show that Diss beat Forncett 6-2 in the first leg of their semi-final played on 9th July. Colin Smith, Morris Taylor & Terry Newby (pictured) won 13-11, Ann Biddulph, Keith Buck & Tony Oram won 21-10 and Morris Taylor, Terry Newby & Graham Mobbs won 20-7. Diss won the second leg 8-0 at Forncett but no details are available of the individual scores. In the other semi-final Wymondham beat Bob Carter 8-0 in the first leg at North Wymondham on 15th July with Simon Warnes, Jack Pye & Debs Sparham winning 15-8 against Jason Woods’ triple and 17-6 against Jamie Forster’s triple. Laura Hawksworth, Jack Marshall & Chris Mann won 19-9 against Forster and 18-12 against Woods. Carter conceded the match at the halfway stage in the second leg at Drayton after Neil Davidson, Laura Hawksworth & Chris Mann beat John Turner, Simon Willies & Jason Woods 17-14 while the game between Carter’s David Lamb and Wymondham’s Debbie Sparham was drawn 11-11. Wymondham are top of the Summer League Division One with 42 points, Carter are second on 24 points but have three games in hand. Forncett top Division Two with 28 points but Diss are second just 7 points behind. With two games in hand Diss are favourites to win the Division Two title.
