Hempnall clinch SNL title in last match

In recent years Hempnall have tended to have run away with the SNL title but this season it went to the wire. Hempnall went into their last match of the season at Shropham sitting in third place and needing seven points to go top and retain the title. Any away match can present problems, but with Shropham at the foot of the South Norfolk League table and having won only one game all season, this was the perfect venue to visit as far as Hempnall were concerned. Hempnall named a strong line-up and any nerves were settled early on as Colin Stevenson, Debbie Sparham & Jon Sparham won 21-9 and Bernie Cudden, Joan Cann & Paul Baker won 26-4 as the first half went to plan for the visitors. After the break Hempnall wrapped up the match, and the title, as Kerry Greenacre, Mick Pearce & Neil Davidson stormed to a 35-1 win. Tim Stockwell, David Blundell & Gerald Chilvers completed a maximum 10-0 win with a 13-5 victory. The Hempnall team are pictured at the match.
