Wymondham moved a step closer to the Breckland League title with a 8-2 home win against Connaught “A” but the visitors did have the honour of collecting the first points earned by a visiting team since the defending champions moved back to their old North Wymondham venue. Three of the four games had a familiar feel to them as Wymondham again clocked up a lorry load full of shots. Roger Steele, Laura Hawksworth and Chris Mann beat Derek Liles’ triple 40-5, Billie Barker (pictured), John Jeffery and Jon Sparham beat Owen Secker’s triple 37-6 and Hayley Osborne, Brian Saunders and Mark Linsdell beat Lee Fallows’ triple 27-10. But in the remaining game the visitors scored an unexpected win as Diane Quadling, Richard Harrison and Sheila Bragg beat Debbie Sparham’s triple 15-11. Second placed Carleton Rode won 10-0 at Hingham where Jill Davidson, Keith Buck & Trish Taylor scored the biggest win of 19-10. Harling Griffins edged a close match away to Shropham by just 6-4 with Jean Horne, Jill Hayman & Glen Hume winning 20-14 and Colin Hayman’s triple winning 18-8. Banham entertained Connaught “B” with the match finishing all square at 5-5. Winning skips for the home side were Will Hoggan and John Williamson and Connaught’s winning skips were David Flatt and Joe Li-Rocchi. Halvergate visited Connaught in the Tens League and their two pairs produced results that earned the visitors a 2-0 win. Mike Harvey & Robbie Lamb beat Elaine & Bob Oatway 25-8 while John Norfolk & David Lamb beat Di Quadling & Sheila Bragg by 16-9. Connaught scored wins in both triples games as Richard Broad’s triple beat Ray Lamb 18-15 and Mike Minshull’s triple beat Keith Baker 17-5 but it still left the home side nine shots adrift overall. Bure League leaders East Tuddenham went down 7-3 at Woodbastwick which will give renewed hope to Halvergate who are competing with them for the title. Doreen Scarfe, Elaine Cole & Peter Jablonowski were in great form as they beat Chrissie Turner, Gerald Potter & John Turner 21-9 while Willie Jefferies’ triple beat Simon Willies 12-11. Derek Sheldrake’s triple drew 12-12 against Rob Howlett while East Tuddenham’s only win was achieved by Melly Woods’ triple who beat Margaret Harman 19-10. Thorpe Marriott are on a roll. After their recent 10-0 win against Horsford BC they repeated the feat with an impressive 10-0 home win against Hevingham. Kath Frost’s triple beat Steve Hall 20-7, John Jarvis beat David Sharpe 19-6, Tony Turner’s triple beat Selwyn Goldsmith 14-11 and George Clarke’s triple beat Maurice Kemp by 13-12. Hingham, top of the Winter Afternoon League, won 10-0 at Shropham where Wendy Tweed, Cynthia Powell & Keith Thomas won 18-9. Watton won 6-4 at home to Harling with Mike Smith, Des McQuiod & Dennis Gower winning 21-5.
