Halvergate back on track

Halvergate’s Bure League title aspirations were re-ignited after an 8-2 win at Thorpe Marriott. Anne Baker, Nigel Willard & Keith Cooke (pictured) led the way with a 23-9 win against George Clarke’s triple while Robbie Lamb’s triple beat John Jarvis’ triple 16-9 and Jason Woods’ triple beat Kath Frost’s triple 19-10. Peter Walker’s triple collected the home teams only points beating David Lamb’s triple 17-10. Hevingham continue to be the most unpredictable team in the league. After recent good wins against title chasing Halvergate and East Tuddenham they went down 8-2 at Horsford BC. Horsford’s Barbara Russell, Janet Seaton & Brian West opened strongly with a 15-4 win against Steve Hall’s triple but Teresa Goldsmith, Joan Costello & Selwyn Goldsmith made sure the session was shared with a 13-10 win against Pauline Strivens’ triple. In the second half the home side won on both mats as Christine Bugg, Bob Burrage & John Bugg beat David Sharpe’s triple 18-13 and Keith Winder, Malcolm Makins & Terry Raisbury beat Maurice Kemp’s triple 19-7. Going by the formbook Woodbastwick were another side expected to win at home to Horsford Heroes but instead a big 18-4 win for David Davitt, David Claxton & Vic Webster against Tony Wright’s triple, coupled with a 12-11 win for John Aggas’s triple, earned the visitors a 6-4 away win. A 16-10 win for Derek Sheldrake’s triple and a 17-12 win for Willie Jefferies’ triple were insufficient to nullify the shots deficit. Thorpe Marriott won 10-0 at Windows with Richard Perkins, George Clarke & Tony Oram leading the way with a 20-8 win. John Jarvis weighed in with a solid 19-8 win while Kath Frost won 12-10 and Tony Turner won 16-5.
