Hempnall through to Norwich Cup semi-finals

A solid first half at Hevingham set Hempnall on their way to another Norwich Cup semi-final. On a night which saw the home side seemingly uncomfortable on their own mats the visitors took advantage to seal a half time lead of 6-2 on points and the third session made sure of victory. Tim Stockwell, Mick Pearce & Gerald Chilvers (pictured) were in great form winning their opening game 13-5 but David Sharpe’s Hevingham triple kept the scores level with an 8-3 win. The second session of pairs put Hempnall in the driving seat with Lewis Cranston & Neil Davidson winning 16-4 and Owen Cranston & Paul Baker coming from behind to win 11-8. The third session settled the issue as Charlie Archer’s triple won 6-4 and Gerald Chilvers’ triple won 11-8 with Chilvers in the form of his life. The final session saw Hevingham’s Teresa & Selwyn Goldsmith win 15-1 and Richard Moore & Marjorie Hall drawing 7-7 to give the score-line some respectability after an out of sorts home performance. The draw for the semi-finals was made at the end of the match which saw Hempnall drawn against Bob Carter Centre and Halvergate drawn against Wymondham.
