Bure League & Cup Latest

Hevingham will take a 20-4 points lead into the second leg of their Bure Cup tie against Horsford BC after a convincing home win. Two home triples achieved maximum points with three wins apiece. Pat Williamson, Pat Hall & Steve Hall won their games by 10-3, 5-3 & 4-3 while Gill Bunn, Alan Bunn & David Sharpe won 6-3, 6-4 & 7-3. Richard Moore, Joan Costello & Maurice Kemp won their first two games by 7-2 & 6-5 but lost 7-2 against Christine Bugg, Keith Winder & Paul Isgate in the last session. Aleck Haynes, Joyce Vincent & Marjorie Hall won their opening game 7-4 and their final game by 11-1 but lost their second game by 7-3 against Danny Allen, Stuart Mitchell & Dennis Seaton. The second leg will be played on Wednesday 14th November. Thorpe Marriott entertained Horsford Heroes in the first leg of their Bure Cup tie and there was little to separate the teams as the match finished 13-11 in Thorpe Marriott’s favour. Sheila Redwood, Trevor Pinchen & Tony Turner won two games by 13-0 & 11-0 for the home side while Linda Chadwick, David Claxton & Les Chadwick achieved two wins of 9-2 & 5-3 for the Heroes. No doubt Horsford Heroes will be happier with this result than Thorpe Marriott and will be confident of overturning the narrow two point deficit in the second leg on their own mats. Bure League action saw Halvergate win 6-4 at Horsford Heroes where a 22-8 win for Kerry Greenacre, Nigel Willard & Keith Cooke against Chris Woodhouse’s triple earned the match points. David Knights, Morgan Warnes & Simon Warnes got Halvergate’s other win which was a narrow 16-15 result against Carol Aggas, Sue Fox & John Aggas. Both Horsford Heroes’ wins were by 13-12 with Russell Hubbard, Peter Fox & Jane James beating Jackie Smith, Ray Lamb & Jason Woods while Richard Hart, David Foster & Vic Webster beat Ryan Fox, Robbie Lamb & David Lamb. After losing their first three Bure League games Windows visited Woodbastwick where they finally got that first win on the board. Avril Walker, Maureen Dease & Andy Drummie produced an impressive 29-5 win against Derek Sheldrake’s triple while Brenda Sizer, Mally Woodhouse & Di Boswell beat Lianne Mills’ triple 22-12. The home side responded with a 15-12 win by Brian Bunting, Tony Wright & Willie Jefferies against Keith Halford’s triple and a 25-9 win by Margaret Capps, Norman Jablonowski & Margaret Harman against Mick Boswell’s triple but it was far short of what was needed to deny Windows the match points.
