Norfolk bowlers turn out for Trials Day

On Sunday the Norfolk County Squad trials for the 2018/19 season were held at Hingham Sports & Social Club. There was a good turnout and all bar one that were expected to attend were there on the day. The new Norfolk County Manager, Simon Willies, made his inaugural speech thanking his predecessor, Selwyn Goldsmith and team, and introducing his new management team, Keith Cooke Assistant Manager and John Turner Premier Team Captain. The “A” team Captain is yet to be selected. Simon outlined the approach to the day and what was expected of the players. Overall the level of bowling on display was of a very high standard with some very close fought games and some good fightbacks. The morning session was devoted to rinks and in the afternoon triples games were played. Norfolk County squad are in very good hands with a blend of young and old talent and experience shining through. Simon Willies wishes to convey the following message to the bowlers who trialled. “Thank you for all those that turned up for the day. All of you certainly made the decision very hard of who to include in the squad. Unfortunately, some people will be disappointed however thank you for your efforts and we look forward to seeing you at next year’s trials. Everyone has been contacted either by email or letter so please check your emails and post. For those accepting their places please note that a reply by 15th June is required.”
