Wymondham through to challenge cup final

Wymondham eased ino the final of the Norfolk Challenge cup with a 17-3 win against hosts Connaught. The first singles sessions saw recently crowned SMPT English Masters champion Jack Pye beat Shelia Bragg 15-3 while Chris Mann beat Lee Fallows 13-7 in a high quality match. The fours first session saw Pat Saunders, Melvyn Barker, Debbie Sparham and Mark Linsdell lose 6-9 to Diane Quadling, Joe Li Rocchi, Sylvia Parsons and Richard Harrison but a 9-7 win for Billie Barker, Brian Saunders, John Jeffery and Jon Sparham against Dave Quadling, Mike Parsons, R. Taylor and Owen Secker sealed an 8-2 first session win with the shots 43-26 in Wymondham's favour. The second session of singles saw Chris Mann in good form inflicting another 15-3 defeat on Shelia Bragg while Jack Pye having conceded a four and was 2-8 down managed to claim a terrific 9-9 draw against Lee Fallows. This meant Wymondham were through with them currently on eleven points but Connaught decided to play the fours but lost both matches. Mark Linsdell's four recorded a 15-4 win against Owen Secker's block while Jon Sparham's four beat Richard Harrison's block 10-4. Wymondham now await either Bob Carter or Forncett in the final which is likely to be played at a neutral venue.
