Thetford initiative launched by Pauline Barsby

After much groundwork by Pauline Barsby of Harling an initiative to launch short mat bowls in Thetford is set to take off this coming Friday with the first of four two hour sessions at the Charles Burrell Bowls Club. These sessions, which include free informal lessons, could pave the way to a short mat bowls club being formed in a major Norfolk town which has long lacked short mat bowling opportunities.

Officers of the NCSMBA have set-up a Development Fund to assist in this project, with a sub-committee of Pauline Barsby, Jill Watson & Peter Walker to administer it, and in the long term this fund will be available to assist in the formation of new short mat bowls clubs in Norfolk. NCSMBA President Brian Saunders, Vice President Bob Oatway, Chairman Selwyn Goldsmith & Treasurer Jill Watson were involved in the discussions that have led to this initiative and it will be further discussed at the next NCSMBA Management Committee Meeting set for November 29th at Kirby Bedon.
