Rode blown away at Wymondham

Breckland League action saw Carleton Rode blown away at Wymondham as the defending champions crushed the opposition. Roger Steele, Brian Saunders & Jack Pye opened with a heavy 31-9 win against Russell Davidson’s triple and any hopes that singles specialist Neil Davidson and his triple would do better quickly evaporated as he slipped to an 18-6 defeat against Mary Fisher, John Jeffery & Jon Sparham. After the break Hayley Stratton, Mark Linsdell & Chris Mann beat Graham Mobbs’ triple 26-11 and in the only close game of the night Pat saunders, Melvyn Barker & Debbie Sparham beat Gill Coleman, Karl Newby & Terry Newby 16-13. Wymondham continued their good form at Connaught “B” where they won 9-1 with Roger Steele, Brian Saunders & Jack Pye storming to a 35-3 win against Mike Utting’s triple while Jon Sparham’s triple won 28-11 against Joan Knox. Connaught “A” remain top of the table for now but will be disappointed with losing 6-4 at Harling Unicorns. Mo Tarrant, Daphne Braham & Mike Tarrant beat Sheila Bragg’s triple 20-13 while Gwen Messent, Mike Baker & Edward Jones beat an understrength Derek Liles triple by 24-9. Banham edged to a 6-4 home win against Harling Griffins in a tight match. Banham’s Ronnie Dunning, Derek Gray & John Williamson earned the match points with a 19-8 win against Stephen Smith’s triple although Val Easter’s triple made a great effort beating Will Hoggan 21-13. Hingham’s Keith Thomas won 24-9 against Banham with the home side collecting all ten points in a match where the visitors played with a triple short.
