Hall claims first Bure title for Hevingham

Steve Hall won his first Bure championship title in the triples after skipping Betty Cox and David Sharpe to glory Tuesday night at Woodbastwick. In the final they played last years beaten finalists Brenda Sizer, Diane Boswell and Mike Boswell from Windows. Hevingham made a dream start picking up braces on the first two ends then followed that up with a three to lead 7-0. Players and spectators described the match as scrappy but the Hevingham trio played the better over eight ends and although they conceded the remaining three ends of the match by two singles and a brace, they held on to win.  On a night full of surprises defending champions Geraldine Potter, Gerald Potter and Chris Mann of East Tuddenham crashed out to Ray Lamb, Morgan Warnes and Simon Warnes of Halvergate by 11-4 in the first round. While in the semi finals more shocks happened as both Halvergate blocks went out. Keith Cooke, Robbie Lamb and David Lamb lost to eventual winners Hevingham by 5-4 while Simon Warnes lost 7-6 to runners up Windows.
