Hevingham slip in Tens League

Hevingham are still finding points hard to come by in the Tens League. Their visit to Kirby Bedon ended in a 4-0 defeat with the home side winning on all mats. Melvyn Barker & Selwyn Goldsmith gave Kirby Bedon a great start beating Eddie Hayward & former Norfolk County Pairs champion David Sharpe by 22-3 and Jill Watson, Gerald Chilvers & Phil Watson’s 16-13 win against Aleck Haynes’ triple left Kirby 22 shots up at the break. Things failed to improve after the break for Hevingham as Carol & John Aggas beat Pat Williamson & Alan Bunn 16-6 while Billie Barker, Shirley Brown & Joe Brown beat Gill Bunn, Betty Cox & Rex Cox 18-8. Four days later Hevingham entertained title chasing Hempnall and despite an improved performance still went down 3-0. The opening triples game finished all square as Hevingham’s Gill Bunn, Betty Cox & Alan Bunn drew 10-10 with Bernie Cudden, Joan Cann & Lewis Cranston. Hempnall went into the break seven shots up though as Roger Parker & Neil Davidson beat Aleck Haynes & Steve Hall 17-10. Eddie Hayward & David Sharpe made life difficult for the visitors as they beat Colin Stevenson & Paul Baker 16-11 but Hempnall clinched a 3-0 away win as Lesley Crowe, Richard Harrowing & Rob Cranston beat Joyce Vincent, Pat Hall & Rex Cox 20-9.
