Bure League action this week saw Thorpe Marriott entertain Horsford BC on Tuesday with the return fixture played on Thursday. Both matches proved competitive with the teams winning two games apiece in each match. On Tuesday home advantage proved crucial with Thorpe Marriott scoring 60 shots against Horsford’s 39 to win the match 6-4 on points. Janet Pinchen, Mandy Marshall & Derek Sheldrake gave the home side a big advantage with a 26-3 win while Jenny Walker, Damian Lamb & Tony Turner provided the other win with a 16-9 score-line. In the return match only one shot separated the teams at the end with Marriott scoring 51 shots against Horsford’s 50 to snatch a valuable away win. Janet Pinchen, David Knights & Tony Turner opened with a 15-14 win for Thorpe Marriott and Richard Perkins, Val Perkins & Derek Sheldrake clinched the win with a second half 14-9 win. Horsford Bowls Club’s wins were provided by Vic Durrant, Phil Mildon & Tim Blackman with a 12-9 result and Barbara Russell, Ken Reynolds & Mike Doddington with a 15-13 win.
