Norfolk teams complete double over rivals Essex

Norfolk Premier and Norfolk “A” both completed a double against rivals Essex at Hingham in the Inter-County Championships. Norfolk Premier demolished Essex Premier by a massive 36-4 on points and 293-111 on shots. Norfolk “A” fought back from 6-2 down after the opening session to record a convincing 26-14 win on points, 235-186 on shots. It was all too easy for Norfolk Premier as the only wins for Essex came in one triples game and one fours game. In the singles Wymondham’s Chris Mann won his games by 23-7 and 23-8 while Trevor Brown won by 25-6 and 20-9. The pairs also produced maximum points for Norfolk as Owen Cranston & Chris Willies won by 22-3 & 25-7 and Neil Davidson & player-manager Jack Pye won by 29-2 & 16-6. Kerry Greenacre, Debs Sparham & Keith Cooke won their triples games by 18-8 & 13-7 while Jack Marshall, Robbie Lamb & Simon Willies added a 12-8 win. The fours collected eight out of ten points with John Turner, Ryan Fox, Simon Warnes & Jason Woods winning their games 19-4 & 13-2 and Robert Howlett, Karl Newby, David Lamb & Jon Sparham winning their second half game by 14-2. Essex “A” enjoyed success in the singles picking up all ten points but could only add one win in the pairs and one win in the triples as they slipped to defeat. Thetford’s Jason Martin & Peter Harvey won their pairs games by 26-10 & 15-7, and the triple of Billie Barker, Joy Townsend & Robin Amos returned wins of 17-8 & 16-7. Norfolk took all ten points in the fours where Donna Lamb, Chloe Suffolk, Steve Hall & Ray Lamb won 12-8 & 17-8 and Elaine Willies, Kacy Suffolk, Terry Newby & Melvyn Barker won 12-10 & 18-10.
