Wymondham enjoy shot feast

Two massive wins for defending Breckland League champions Wymondham have rocketed them to the top of the league. Pat Saunders, Melvyn Barker & Debbie Sparham were in great form at Shropham where they won their game 34-6. Jack Pye’s triple won 25-10 and Chris Mann’s triple won 19-10. Stiff resistance was provided by Dennis Green, Graham Negus & Graham Godbold, who eventually went down 17-13 against Jon Sparham’s triple, with Sparham having to produce some pressure woods to keep his triple in charge. Wymondham scored one of the biggest wins ever at home to Harling Griffins where the visitors went down 10-0 on points and 140-14 on shots. With four regular Norfolk premier bowlers skipping for the home side, which also included four other current county bowlers and three former county team bowlers, Harling found themselves outgunned by a formidable side. They will just have to put this result behind them and not let it affect their confidence too much. For the records these were the individual results. Pat Saunders, Melvin Barker & Debbie Sparham won by 41-7, Mary Fisher, John Jeffery & Jon Sparham won 35-2, Hayley Stratton, Brian Saunders & Chris Mann won 33-4 & Roger Steele, Mark Linsdell & Jack Pye won 31-1. Title contenders Connaught “A” won 8-2 at home to Banham with Diana Adcock, Joe LiRocchi & Sheila Bragg winning 26-8 and Di Quadling, Derek Liles & Owen Secker winning 22-6. Banham’s John Williamson skipped his triple to a 15-10 win. Harling Unicorns collected an 8-2 home win against Connaught “B” with Mike Tarrant’s triple winning 28-11 and Matt Cunningham’s triple winning 24-15. Hingham won 10-0 at home to Forncett in the other match played.
